The Story of Ellipsis
In late 2024, Sophie Tibbs created Ellipsis writing and editing services. With more than seven years' experience in editorial fields and a Master's degree in Creative Writing, Sophie wanted to see what she could offer as a freelancer. She loves taking a piece of writing and polishing until it shines. Her passion for words is second only to her passion for stories (according to her, those are two very different things).
Sophie set out to build something that would help others tell their own stories. From corporate pitches to heartfelt poetry, from business narratives to beloved novels, every piece of writing contains two stories: the one on the page and the one that led to its creation.
In punctuation, an ellipsis is made up of three evenly-spaced dots that indicate an ommission of text. They are used when a speaker trails off in implication, or to reveal the solution to a problem with a flourish, or to condense a quote for relevance. In short... an ellipsis is used when there is more to be said.
Sophie chose the name for this reason. She believes that context is crucial, that the reason a piece of work exists is just as important as the work itself. Leading with curiosity and compassion, Sophie will provide friendly and professional editorial support to every project that comes her way.

Booking a project
If you have a project for Ellipsis, please fill out the form on the Contact page and Sophie will reply as soon as possible. Please specify the nature of the task and any timeline expectations you have.
Pricing is bespoke for each project. I work with you to find a reasonable rate. Please get in touch for a quote.
What you can expect
Your story comes first with Ellipsis. We will treat your work with the utmost care and confidentiality.
All projects will start with Sophie asking you a lot of questions to make sure were are on the same page about styling preferences and desired feedback level. Work is most commonly shared using Word or PDF, depending on client preference. Online Word documents are also an option if you want to watch her edit in real time!
Once we have hashed out the details and a rate and timeline are agreed to, we can get started! Sophie will be very easily contactable during this time and happy to answer any questions you have. She may also ask her own as they crop up. You can receive periodic updates on a schedule that suits you, either by email or video call.
Transparency is very important at Ellipsis and we want to ensure that you are comfortable with our process. Please be assured that we will NEVER use AI to edit your work. We respect the craft of human creativity and believe that only a human can do it justice in editing.
